Strathsport
Description:
Strathsport has been my primary gym for the past two years due to it being located on my university campus. I have had a very positive experience training here. For a commercial style gym, Strathsport offers some high-end equipment that others do not such as the high-end racks and specialised ESP kit. It has a very spacious layout and offers a wide range of facilities such as racket courts, a swimming pool with sauna and steam room and many others. It also offers some of the cheapest student membership I have seen, and they come with access to all the facilities. The environment is very positive as all of the staff are very supportive and friendly. There are often new, challenging competitions available in the gym which encourage a strong sense of community such as timed sled pulls or distance challenges on rowing machines. One thing that does take away from the experience at Strathsport is it can get very busy in the evenings which creates long waits for some equipment, this is worse on the weekends due to the limited opening hours. The gym does offer a selection of high-end equipment however, the machine weights are mostly life fitness equipment and are very basic. This isn’t an issue for beginner to intermediate lifters however this equipment may not be sufficient for more experienced lifters. Overall, I feel that the gym offers adequate equipment for most lifters and would be ideal for powerlifters due to the high-end racks and lifting platforms.
