PureGym Charing Cross

Image
Description: Puregym Charing Cross offers a range of equipment mainly targeted towards beginner and intermediate lifters. It is very spacious and user friendly with lots of supportive information around on different exercises. Personally, I have never been fond of Puregyms due to their environment and basic equipment. Recently I have began to change my opinion on them, after moving flat for this academic year I have started a membership at Puregym Charing Cross due to the location being very convenient. The main upside I have felt since joining is the 24/7 opening hours. As a student I find it hard to fit in a workout sometimes especially during busy periods during the semester. The flexibility of being able to access a gym at any point has helped me fit in workouts where I couldn’t before. Another benefit of the flexible opening hours is that the gym is less busy at all times as there is not the usual rush of people going in the evening to get a workout in before the gym closes....

Strathsport

Image
Description: Strathsport has been my primary gym for the past two years due to it being located on my university campus. I have had a very positive experience training here. For a commercial style gym, Strathsport offers some high-end equipment that others do not such as the high-end racks and specialised ESP kit. It has a very spacious layout and offers a wide range of facilities such as racket courts, a swimming pool with sauna and steam room and many others. It also offers some of the cheapest student membership I have seen, and they come with access to all the facilities. The environment is very positive as all of the staff are very supportive and friendly. There are often new, challenging competitions available in the gym which encourage a strong sense of community such as timed sled pulls or distance challenges on rowing machines. One thing that does take away from the experience at Strathsport is it can get very busy in the evenings which creates long waits for some equipm...

ProLife Fitness Centre

Image
Description: I was first inclined to try out Prolife Fitness Centre in Paisley due to its Japanese bath which interested me. I had previously been to gyms that offered spa facilities such as saunas and steam rooms however I had never heard of a Japanese bath before. When I first arrived, I was surprised to see how well kitted out the gym was as I was expecting a pretty basic gym. Prolife Fitness spans over 2 floors and offers a wide selection of high-end Hammer Strength and Cybex machines. It also has a unique leg dedicated room called the ’Xxtra Leg Room’ filled with top of the range leg machines. It also includes a boxing area with multiple types of boxing bags, a large car park and even a creche for members with children. As impressive as the gym is, the main highlight from my experience at Prolife was definitely the spa facilities. The usual spa facilities include a high-end Swedish sauna and steam room which are accompanied by a variety of cold showers and the Japanese bath. The Ja...

With 24/7 access and machines I have not even seen before, visiting limitless is exciting to say the least. Offering a wide range of heavy-duty lifting equipment, the gym includes dumbbells up to 80 kg, hammer strength machines, power racks and various other specialist equipment. The gym caters to a range of users from power lifters to bodybuilders to strength athletes who are looking to access top of the range equipment. The gym also boasts some unique features such as a dedicated posing room with perfect lighting and their very own pre workout ‘bar’ where members can purchase a range of pre workouts by the serving.
